'Back to School' is filled with articles containing useful information and stories for parents and families on the journey from early education to graduation as an adult
The current edition of Back to School is a special feature titled 'A Brief History of Education'.
Each year our children start a new chapter of growth and adventure in their school environment. As they mature and develop they learn to cope with a changing array of challenges, emotions and decisions. As parents we try to guide them and provide a happy, safe and stable environment to better assist their journey through pre-school to university. 'Back to School' takes a look at the benefits of children's education and the issues they face, both good and bad.
In this edition we examine the beginnings of education from ancient times. We also take a look at the history of education in Australia through to our modern system. Australia ranks as the 3rd best country globally for overall education and career growth. It also places highly in the QS Future Skills Index, ranking 2nd worldwide for academic readiness and 4th for skills alignment.
The history of education extends at least as far back as the first written records recovered from ancient civilisations. Historical studies have included virtually every nation. The earliest known formal school was developed in Egypt’s Middle Kingdom (2061–2010 BC). Initially only royal offspring and sons of the rich and professionals were schooled.
